Residential Retreat Description
Whilst most of the retreats held at the Retreat Centre are organised by the Brahma Kumars University, there are some retreats administered by other organisations (in conjunction with BKWSU). If your preference is to participate in the events organised by other organisations, you should contact them directly.
Regular events organised by BKWSU
Meditation Retreat (Inner Peace, Inner Power)
Who can attend? This retreat is ONLY for those who have not attended a meditation retreat at GRC nor a meditation course at a BK centre.
About the Retreat: An introduction to Raja Yoga, an understanding and meditation practice that renews inner resources of peace, love and joy to strengthen character and enable us to benefit others.
Deaf Community
Who can attend? An annual retreat for members of the Deaf Community. BSL and SSE interpreting is available.
About the Retreat: Each retreat offers exploration on a spiritual theme, with discussions, workshops, seminars and creative activities, such as art and drama. Meditation is an important part of the weekend, where guests begin to see that it is possible to approach life in a peaceful way.
Offender Management
Who can attend? A retreat for those working at all levels with offenders within places of detention or within the community.
About the Retreat: The retreat will explore how we can find inner strength at a time of relentless change and pressure, inspire and motivate each other to give our best and make a true contribution to the lives of those around us. Led by experienced presenters and facilitators from diverse backgrounds, including the prison system, it provides a rich and stimulating experience.
Social Workers
Who can attend? Each year, a retreat is held for social work managers and educators and another for social workers and social care professionals, working in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
About the Retreat: Each retreat provides an opportunity for participants to reflect upon their inner values and learn about and share spiritual skills, techniques and insights for self- sustenance and empowerment. Sessions are a balanced mix of reflection, presentation and discussion, tied together with the invisible threads of meditation and silence.
Spirituality and Men
Who can attend? a safe and comfortable space for men, of all cultures, faiths and backgrounds, to come together as brothers to experience, deepen, share and enjoy different aspects of the self.
About the Retreat: The retreat will consist of a mixture of talks, informative dialogue and workshop activities, sharing of personal experiences as well as silent reflection and meditation commentary, interspersed with a variety of cultural inputs (readings, live music).

- Seminars / workshops for health professionals
- The Facilitators’ Training is held yearly for those wishing to conduct the Janki Foundation’s modular training and resource package, Values in Healthcare: a spiritual approach, which helps health professionals to take a fresh, values-based approach to their learning and practice, and enables them to complement their training with improved interactive and spiritual skills.
Living Values Education

- The November seminar is for education professionals, working with children and young people. It is designed to revitalise the educator and investigate a topic of current interest in education.
- The Train-the-Trainers workshop is for education professionals who already use the Living Values Education programme, which provides guiding principles and tools for values-based education. Participants will already have skills in training adults or facilitating parents’ groups. During the workshop, they will learn how to implement a values-based education and carry out LVE trainings in their own community or country.
